Poof Gone

(Macbeth and I meeting the three Weird Sisters)

Today was different, a day that I can not conjure. It all started when Macbeth and I stumbled upon three women in strange and wild attire, resembling creature of elder world (I.iii.39-40). Everything seemed strange these three women were speaking nonsense. They began to speak stating that Macbeth was to become the Thane of Cawdor and the King of Scotland hereafter. Macbeth kept asking questions while I stood their in confusion. What is happening? Who are these three weird sisters? Why aren’t they telling me anything? Soon after they told me that my descendents would be king (I.iii.66-67)! You would think I would have been overjoyed to hear this news but I know these women are up to no good. I had no time to beg for their favours nor did I fear their hate. While I was trying to put together what just happened they vanished. Proof gone. It was all strange what had just happened but what happened after that is something I just can not explain. Ross and Angus showed up and told Macbeth that he was the new Thane of Cawdor (I.iii.104-107)! The three sisters were right. Both Macbeth and I were shocked. Could the three sisters have known this before us and just be playing with our heads? Or are they indeed creatures of the supernatural and seen all this coming? All I could think of was if these sister were right about Macbeth were they going to be right about me?

The New King of Scotland

Remember that prophecy I mentioned before? I thought it was perculiar enough for Macbeth to become Thane of Cawdor as the prophecy stated, but I did expect the rest of the statements to come true!
A few days ago, the noble King Duncan paid an overnight visit to Macbeth's castle. It was the last night of his life: King Duncan was murdered by a villainous traitor, and we do not know who it is (I.iii.87-88)! It was a shocking moment indeed, but it was a greater surprise that I heard the confirmation of Macbeth to be the new King of Scotland (II.iv.30)! The prophecy had come true! Unbelievable!

It is a hard investigation as there are many suspects for the murder, such as King Duncan's two guards and King Duncan's two sons, who were next in line for the throne. I, myself, have a feeling that it was Macbeth. I suspect that his future royalty stated from the prophecy caused him to become over ambitious (III.i.2-3), but I must be reasonable. Macbeth is a noble man, and he was very obedient when he was general of the Scottish army.

I must leave now. King Macbeth has kindly invited me to his royal banquet this evening with all the other lords. I know I must respect his kindness. I still have some suspicion of him, but for the while I attend as the king's chief guest. The prophecy's statements about Macbeth came true. Perhaps its statements about me might also come true.

(Probably the king's plans at the banquet...)

The Day I Was Murdered

(This is a picture of my corpse, one of the last pictures I may ever have)

Today when my son and I were riding horses, we ran into three men, whom I overheard were sent by Macbeth, to murder my son Fleance and I. Even though I died with twenty gashes on the head (III.iv.27), Fleance still lives (III.iii.17-22). It won’t be long before Macbeth murders him as well. I was loyal to Macbeth, but he wasn’t the same in return. Pity to know that one would kill their best friend over money and power. I am in heaven now, watching over everything that’s happening. It seems like my death is just the beginning.

Words cannot explain how I feel about Macbeth, if only I knew his other side earlier I would have done something - anything, to make sure he would never be king, but being the evil person that he is, he beat me to it and killed me. Death was not something I was expecting today but it seems that it’s something that I’m going to have to accept seeing that I am already dead and there is nothing I can do about it. I can only hope that when Fleance gets older he will get revenge on Macbeth for me. Just before Fleance escaped I yelled to him “Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly! Thou may ’st revenge” (III.iii.17). I may be dead but this is not over until Macbeth gets what he really deserves, and I will be watching from above when that does happen.

Banquo Haunting the Banquet

(This is me at the banquet, as I sit with my fellow lords in the king's seat)

Here I am still watching down on Earth from heaven. I’m still angry over that wretched Macbeth for his treacherous murder plans. A plague upon him and his entire generation! I am also still deeply worried about Fleance, I hope that noble son of mine has inherited some defence skills from his father. I fear Macbeth may have more plans of murder. He has already murdered King Duncan and myself, and murdering a young lad would be as simple as stabbing butter with a butter knife. God be with you, Fleance.

That evening, I arrived to the banquet (III.iv.38). After all, Macbeth never mentioned that I had to be alive to attend. I was a bit late though, there was only one seat was left – the king’s seat – and I sat down on it. The party was going well until Macbeth wanted to sit down; the thing was he couldn’t find a place to sit. All the lords offered the seat where I was sitting. (III.iv.46) As I turned to look, it was the first time I had ever seen Macbeth so frightened. It was amazing that he was the only one who could see me. I kept quiet, which resulted in him screaming questions about my presence. (III.iv.75-83) I wondered how he was able to see me. Perhaps it was a result from his guilt over my death. After the trauma, I fled the room. I created quite a humiliation for Macbeth in front of all the lords. Sweet revenge!
